Not Quite Thanksgiving

It's Thanksgiving day, and it's not quite the Thanksgiving we had hoped for. Not to say it's been horrible by any means - the weather has been glorious the past two days, and we had two gringo Thanksgiving meals earlier in the week, and I got my fix of cornbread and pumpkin cheesecake and sweet potato casserole and greeb bean casserole and TURKEY!!! They were both amazing meals.

However, yesterday afternoon, in the space of about two hours, both of our computers died. Strange huh?

Jason got home yesterday afternoon and the computer wouldn't turn on. So he used my old laptop that he brought down in October to talk to Dell Customer service. Literally about three minutes after he got offline with tech support (TECH SUPPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! movie anyone?), my laptop died. His is supposedly the motherboard. Mine he thinks is the hard drive. Either way, there both dead at the moment, the elder never to be resurrected (most likely), and the younger with probably at least a ten day wait until someone can come out.

We woke up this morning to try and call Dell from school, since we couldn't use Skype, and the school's phones were still down. (Oh wait, didn't I tell you? Lightning struck the school on Sunday night and our intranet and internet haven't been the same, PLUS my computer in my classroom has stopped working, so I can't get online there or have access to any of my school documents. So it's kind of like two and a half computers that have died.) Anyway, Jason spend three hours this morning on a friend's phone getting the runaround from Dell, and right when he started to get some answers and get somewhere, the battery on the phone ran out. Luckily, the guy he was talking to emailed him a little later on.

However, that's not the end! Jason's been on medicine because of an infection, and we were wondering if he was having an allergic reaction to it. We're positive now. I came home from the grocery store and his foot was swollen up like a balloon; his toes looked like they were ready to burst! It's gone down now, but he's not going back on the medicine. BUT he has to start a cyle of parasite medication this weekend. (Yes, and infection and parasites - FUN FUN FUN!)

Overall, not quite the Thanksgiving we could have hoped for, but a friend lent us her computer for the night while she's out of town (thanks Rach - I hope you saw lots of turtles) so tonight we're going to relax, maybe watch a movie, and bake some pizza. And if you get Thanksgiving pizza, things have to be at least pretty good, right?
